From September 7 to 8, Professor Wu Yabin, Secretary-General of the Global New Industrial Revolution Alliance (NIRA), was invited to attend the Philanthropy for Better Cities Forum 2026 held at the West Kowloon Cultural District in Hong Kong. He joined philanthropists, business leaders, social entrepreneurs, policymakers, scholars, and representatives of social organizations from around the world to explore how technological innovation, cross-sector collaboration, and sustainable development can create broader social value.
The forum was hosted by The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust and co-organized by the Institute for Philanthropy, under the theme “Leaping for Impact.” Bringing together leading stakeholders from the global philanthropy ecosystem, the forum featured in-depth discussions on topics including philanthropic innovation, systemic change, cross-sector collaboration, health, youth development, inclusive employment, and sustainable urban and community development, fostering a more action-oriented and impactful global collaboration network.
During the forum, Professor Wu exchanged views with Hong Kong and international partners on how artificial intelligence innovation, industrial collaboration, and sustainable development can further empower philanthropy. As advanced digital technologies of the New Industrial Revolution—including artificial intelligence, big data, and cloud computing—continue to accelerate, technology is profoundly expanding and transforming the approaches and practices of philanthropy.
From identifying social needs, allocating resources, and implementing programs to impact assessment and the dissemination of best practices, artificial intelligence is creating new possibilities for improving the efficiency of philanthropic initiatives and expanding their social impact.
NIRA believes that the value of advanced digital technologies in the New Industrial Revolution should not only be measured by efficiency gains and economic growth, but also by their ability to address real societal needs, promote inclusive development, and enhance human well-being. Strengthening the integration of technological innovation, industrial resources, and philanthropy can help transform the concept of “AI for Good” into practical, replicable, and scalable solutions for social challenges.

Together with international partners, NIRA will explore new models of collaboration integrating technological innovation, industrial cooperation, and philanthropy for social good, advancing the application of artificial intelligence and New Industrial Revolution technologies for sustainable development and human well-being.
